The Spiders won their third consecutive game of the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Lions. UR attempted 34 shots in the game, 11 coming in the first period.
The men’s basketball team won 68-66 against Saint Louis University yesterday. The final Friday Night Spides marked the Spiders’ 19th victory of the season on senior night.
UR closes out its four-game non-conference home stretch and will begin conference play next week.
As of Jan. 12, the team is 5-3 overall on the season and 2-1 in Atlantic 10 play, with an 80-78 win against the Duquesne Dukes on Jan. 10.
The Spiders led the game for more than 36 minutes; the team spent only 43 seconds trailing behind Rhode Island throughout the entire game.
The Spiders move to 3-3 as they enter conference play at the start of the new year.
Outside of regularly scheduled practices, each player spends time working on individual skills in preparation for the upcoming season.
