Coaches for men's athletic teams at the University of Richmond on average earned $79,320 more than coaches for women's teams in 2021, according to federal data.

After two wins over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the Queens College of Charlotte, the Spiders fell on the road to the Shockers in their third loss of the season.
If you had told someone the University of Richmond football team would still be playing in December after starting their season 2-3, they probably wouldn’t have believed you.
At UR, Turner, who studied mathematics and music and sang in two of UR’s musical groups – Schola Cantorum and Choeur Du Roi – picked up 158 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. He also forced 4 fumbles – 3 of which he returned – and scored 2 touchdowns.

UR played three games over the holiday in the Vibrant Thanksgiving Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, and won each contest, bringing the team’s win streak to six on the young season.
However, NC Central would go on to control the first half, leaving the Spiders’ chances of winning a first-round postseason game for the second year in a row up in the air.
After two straight losses over Boston College and the University of Colorado Boulder, the Spiders got back in the win column in an all-out effort over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Nov. 21, defeating the Runnin’ Rebels 82-65 and claiming third place in the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Through one half, the score showed 28-25. Graduate center Neal Quinn hit a layup at the buzzer that kept the Spiders within three points of CU heading into halftime.
Last season, the Spiders hosted Davidson College in the first round of the playoffs and defeated the Wildcats 41-0. Such a large margin of victory gave then-redshirt first-year quarterback Kyle Wickersham the opportunity to get some playing time in the postseason.
In the third quarter, Townsend showcased remarkable agility, speeding down the court and executing an in-and-out move before skillfully finishing with a left-hand layup at the 8:40 mark.
Over the course of the three-day Patriot Invite in Fairfax, Virginia, the swimming and diving team had success in several different events. In the women’s 200-yard freestyle relay, the Spiders finished tied for fourth place with a time of 1:33.92.
“It’s been a nice experience for me,” Cayo said. “It’s obviously in a different role than most teams I’ve been in, but I’m embracing the challenge and trying to get better every day.”
Another chapter has been written in the storied history of the Capital Cup, and this year it took until the very last play of the game to see whether the University of Richmond or the College of William & Mary would be hoisting the trophy Nov. 18.
After four years of playing football for the University of Richmond, McDonough, ‘23, a former defensive back, joined the Spiders’ coaching staff as a graduate assistant football coach.
The Spiders notched their fifth win in a row, taking down the Phoenix by 14 points in the team’s second to last game of the season and bringing UR’s record to 7-3 on the year.
Roussell attributed the pressure in the first half to the team “making [Delaware State] really uncomfortable offensively.”
