Vowing to "Protect Richmond from the ordinary," members of University of Richmond's Pi Beta Phi sorority won Stepping 101 on Friday night with their military-themed "GI Pi Phi" routine in the Robins Center. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. reached out to local, historically African-American fraternities and sororities who are known for stepping, and paired members with the Panhellenic sororities, said Dwayne Foster, president of the Alpha's Upsilon Gamma Chapter.
Freshman George Washburne played for a packed Cellar Tuesday night. After beginning with an acoustic set, he was then joined by sophomores Ian Atchison on the bass and Andrew Robie on the drums, junior Owen Hutchinson on the back-up guitar, and high school friend Cody Reifsteck on the saxophone. As it turned out, most of the crowd was not witnessing Washburnes' music for the first time.
Dogs barked and howled around Westhampton Lake Sunday afternoon, in a fundraiser for a nonprofit that helps abandoned or abused animals. Bandit's Adoption and Rescue of K-9's (BARK) is a Richmond-based organization, that works to rescue dogs from animal shelters that would have been euthanized.
Student organization members decorated golf carts in the University Forum on Oct. 21, and Oct. 22, to represent their student organizations in a Homecoming golf cart parade. The golf cart decorating contest and parade, sponsored by the unifying events committee, guaranteed golf carts to the first 20 students organizations who registered to participate, according to the general contest rules.
Several students of the University of Richmond coughed and fell to the ground in the campus forum Thursday afternoon.

Richmond officials developed a new guest-list policy for fraternity lodges which became effective yesterday. Alison Bartel Keller, director of Greek Life, said that the new policy was a result of a rise in concern for students' safety and student health. The online registration is for all students who would like to attend a lodge function, Keller said.
The Student Organization Budget Appropriations Committee (SOBAC) is working with student activities to improve the funding process for student organizations after deadline confusion last spring and flat-lined funding led to widespread budget cuts. The SOBAC funding application process begins in the spring, Max Vest, director of student activities, said.
Sigma Phi Epsilon will donate to soldiers abroad by designing its rush T-shirts from Salute the Brave, a retailer dedicated to supporting the military and making donations to service members. Every year, the fraternity members design T-shirts that promote their organization for rush week.
Members of the University of Richmond's Student Health Center have launched "Shake the Flu," a campaign to encourage students to get flu vaccinations and avoid being diagnosed with the flu this flu season. Flu vaccinations will be available between 11 a.m.

Students gathered in the Greek Theatre Saturday night for a stargazing event organized by cultural advisers at the University of Richmond. "Cultural advisers do an event every Saturday night," said Lisa Miles, who is in charge of the cultural adviser program at Richmond and works in the office of common ground. The goal for the cultural adviser programs are only on Saturday nights and they provide something alternative on campus for students to do on Saturdays, Miles said.

The University of Richmond's Medical Assistance and Responsible Action Protocol protects students from getting in trouble for incurring or reporting alcohol-related illnesses. Any student who receives emergency medical attention related to alcohol consumption will not be charged with a violation of the University Alcohol Policy provided the student meets with his or respective dean to discuss the incident and completes any required alcohol education policy prescribed by the dean's office, according to the policy. Any student(s) who assists a student requiring medical attention related to alcohol consumption will not be charged with a violation of the University Alcohol Policy provided the student(s) are the first to contact emergency medical services, remain with the student in need of medical treatment and cooperate with emergency responders and meet with a university official for follow up, according to the policy. Joe Boehman, Richmond College dean, said the policy had been formally enacted in Spring 2010 and printed in student handbooks in Fall 2010.
About 25 men at the University of Richmond are preparing to reestablish the Omicron chapter of Theta Chi, a fraternity banned from campus in 1996. "By the very beginning of next semester the university is ready to recognize us as a colony assuming we get the stated number of guys," said junior Ryan Dickerson, vice president of the Theta Chi interest group.
