Dave & Buster's opens in Richmond

Costume shop attracts eclectic workers for creativity

After spending time at the University of Richmond's costume shop in the basement of the Modlin Center, Kate Jagger made her own dress for Ring Dance. "I had never sewed anything in my life before," said Jagger, a student visiting Richmond from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Jagger, a junior history major, is heavily involved with theater at her home in Cornwall, England.


Guster is hitting up the Robins Center Friday night at 7:30 as part of their Campus Conciousness Tour.

Guster brings 'Eco-Village' to campus

The Guster concert on April 24 will not only provide music at the University of Richmond's Robins Center, but will also feature an Eco-Village that will educate students on environmental sustainability on campus. Guster's Campus Consciousness Tour is half rock concert, half environmental awareness campaign.

Film studies major could begin fall 2010

Justin Mallaney, a business major with a finance concentration, has been interested in film since before he can remember. A sophomore at the University of Richmond, Mallaney has already taken three film classes offered by the English department and is now submitting his application for an independent study in film studies.

Sophomore participates in Va. pageant

Tasha Baah, a member of the University of Richmond's track and field team, will compete in the Miss Virginia United States pageant on Sunday, April 19. Baah, a sophomore psychology and pre-med major, will be competing against 25 other women for the Miss Virginia United States 2009 title and the opportunity to represent the state at the Miss United States Pageant in Las Vegas, Nev., July 11 to 17. As an aspiring model, Baah said she had never considered entering a pageant before.

Broad St. The fortune cookie gods have got it right because Nanking restaurant off of Broad Street is an idyllic setting to ignore those 12 papers and 82 missed workouts in your life and chow on some Chinese food. Now, before any purists get in a tizzy, I will admit that Nanking's cuisine is actually Chinese-American and has almost zero authenticity to it.
