Storylines:
At Saturday's homecoming game against Rhode Island, sophomore quarterback Michael Strauss threw for almost 200 yards and two touchdowns, and former senior starting quarterback John Laub sat on the sidelines taking mental notes of Strauss' performance.
Richmond shutout Rhode Island on Homecoming Weekend, 39-0. The win moved the Spiders record to 6-3 overall, and 4-2 in conference play.
Shutting out its opponent for the first time since 2009, Richmond's defense answered the challenge of coach Danny Rocco on Homecoming.

Storylines:
Sophomore linebacker Eric Wright has become a respected leader on the University of Richmond's football team, not only because of his talent, but also because of his moral character and religious devotion.
Despite a fourth-quarter comeback by James Madison, Richmond was able to hold on for the win, 35-29, on Saturday in front of a sold-out Robins Stadium. The upset of the second-ranked Dukes serves as Danny Rocco's signature win in his first season as Spiders head coach. The star of the game for UR was sophomore quarterback Michael Strauss, who threw for 4 touchdowns in his first collegiate start. He'll start the rest of the season because incumbent starter John Laub suffered a broken ankle.
Beating the second-ranked team in the country seemed unbelievable for unranked Richmond, and a fourth-quarter James Madison comeback nearly left the Spiders with a heartbreaking loss.
