Asia Week has been a topic of conversation for my friends and me throughout the semester. This year’s International Education week is focused on Asia with an emphasis on East Asia. It is a spotlight on a region that is economically, politically, socially and culturally significant to the world, but does not generally enjoy a large presence in the University of Richmond's curriculum, programming or campus life. DeMaurice Smith loves a fight. When he was a litigator, he used to do push-ups outside the courtroom to get his heart rate up, as if he were about to compete.
This decade, Wilco’s frontman and songwriter, Jeff Tweedy, has released five albums with the band he started 25 years ago, taken time for solo projects and an album with his son, guest starred on Parks and Rec (in the fictional band Land Ho) and written a memoir released last November. And after all that, Tweedy and company released their 12th studio album, Ode to Joy, last month, his most essential work this decade.
