HARRISONBURG, Va. — Richmond gained 118 yards of total offense as James Madison University won, 31-7, Saturday evening at Bridgeforth Stadium. Richmond quarterback Aaron Corp passed for 130 yards but was sacked seven times as Richmond gained -12 yards rushing. It was the second-straight loss in the Colonial Athletic Association for Richmond as it fell to 3-2 on the year.

HARRISONBURG, Va. — As James Madison University coach Mickey Matthews entered his post-game press conference after his team's 31-7 victory over the University of Richmond, his visor on his head was so low that it nearly covered his eyes and made him look like a villain. After the Spiders put up just 118 yards of offense, there was no other way the Spider offense could look at him.

The University of Richmond football team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday evening, 45-43, to the University of New Hampshire. The game was the Colonial Athletic Association conference opener for both teams. The Spiders scored 20 points during a fourth-quarter comeback attempt, but the Wildcats scored 28 points during the second quarter, which proved too much for the home team to overcome.

There was no apologizing after Duke just like there wasn't any after defeating Wagner. Nor was there any apologies given after Richmond hung on during the fourth quarter to defeat Virginia Military Institute.

Richmond picked up a 23-21 upset win over Duke University Saturday night at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Interim coach Wayne Lineburg picked up his first career win after taking over the position just 10 days before the start of the season. Richmond has now won the past three times it has traveled to Wallace Wade Stadium.

DURHAM, N.C. — Let's be clear here: Richmond could have lost its season opener -- and maybe should have lost it. Richmond's coach was appointed to that position just 10 days before the start of the seaon, 26 freshmen and sophomores had their names listed on the two-deep pre-game depth chart and Richmond's starting quarterback was coming back from a blown-out knee.
