Happy Monday Spiders – and happy Pig Roast week to everyone who celebrates! This time every year, the debate over pig roast reemerges…should it return as an on-campus tradition? Regardless whether you choose to celebrate this UR tradition or not, there are a number of other events to indulge in this week!

Spring Tree Tours

If you've ever wanted to learn more about the beautiful trees on campus, now's your chance! The Office for Sustainability is hosting tree tours where you can discover the native, ornamental, and exotic tree species that make up the beautiful uR campus. You can join this informative nature walk on Tuesday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. or next week on Wednesday, April 16 at 9:00 a.m. 

Laser Shows to Beyoncé’s Music at the Science Museum of Virginia

The Science Museum of Virginia is hosting two Laser Shows set to Beyoncé’s hits on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. These shows will be held in the Dome Theater – an immersive space quarter-acre screens surrounding all sides. This experience is a must-see for any Beyoncé fans, and you can see full details and get tickets here.

Paws and Play at the Westhampton Green

If you’re in need of some pet therapy, swing by the Westhampton Green on Saturday, April 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for dog costume contests and agility course contests! This weekend, BARK club is hosting Paws and Play, an event with pancakes, a bounce house, a dog agility course, face painting, and of course, dogs. This event is fundraising for local shelters Richmond Animal Control & Care and Richmond City Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. You can RSVP for this event here

Relay for Life Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society

Join the fight against cancer by supporting Relay for Life on Friday, April 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Intramural Fields. This event is a UR tradition- and will feature performances by Spider Cheer, SpinnURs Dance Group, the Octaves Acapella Group, and the Henry & Henry Band. Enjoy delicious food from the gourmet grilled cheese food truck, Cheesagedon, and desserts from UR Dining—all while supporting a great cause! UR Sirens Acapella Group Concert 

If you’re looking to enjoy the spring weather and hear some live music, stop by the Jenkins Greek Theater for the UR Sirens Acapella group’s annual spring concert. Enjoy a variety of modern hits and classic tunes on April 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can register for tickets here
