Happy Monday Spiders! The weather is warming up and so are the campus activities. Take the time to sunbathe on the Westhampton green and get some homework done outside on the library lawn, but also take advantage of the awesome activities in and around campus this week. From free ice cream to museum festivals, there’s a lot to look forward to! 

Free ice cream at the Science Museum of Virginia 

Gelati Celesti will be giving out free samples of their limited edition flavor “Brick Batter” on Monday, March 31, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia. Stop by the Gelati Celesti truck for a free treat, and then head inside to check out Richmond’s historic museum of all things STEM. Fun fact, the museum gives discounts for students! Just ask when purchasing tickets. More information here

UR Video Game Orchestra Performance

The University of Richmond Video Game Orchestra is hosting their Spring 2025 Concert “A Night at Karaoke!” on Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. Head over to the Perkinson Recital Hall in North Court to hear music from video games like Snake Eater, Baka Mitai, and even some original compositions. You can get free tickets here

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts “Frida Fest” with SCEI 

The VMFA is celebrating artist Frida Kahlo and the opening of the Frida: Beyond the Myth exhibit with an afternoon of live music, dance performances, and artist demonstrations. The free festival is on Saturday, April 5, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. SCEI staff will help students purchase discounted tickets to the exhibit with their student ID at the ticket kiosk between 2 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Check out more transportation options and more information here

Interactive community drum circle with Third Coast Percussion 

The Grammy Award-winning Third Coast Percussion group will lead an interactive workshop at the Boatwright Library patio on Wednesday, April 2, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Explore rhythm patterns, improvisation, and collaborative music-making in this event hosted by the Modlin Center and Boatwright Library. Delta Gamma “Grillin’ for Good” fundraiser

Stop by the Stern Quad on Thursday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a tailgate-style fundraiser. Delta Gamma will be grilling hot dogs and selling ice cream, sides, and drinks to raise money for their philanthropy Service for Sight. The sales will be under the “donate what you see fit” payment model, and the event will have lawn games like corn hole and Spikeball to take advantage of the spring weather. More information here
