Happy Groundhog day Spiders! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, which means six more weeks of winter. Thankfully, there’s a lot of fun events happening on campus this week to keep your mind off the prolonged cold season. 

“The Winds of Change” Performance by Billy Childs Quartet with Sean Jones

Renowned pianist and composer Billy Childs will be performing with bass, drums and Sean Jones, a trumpet player, to perform music from Child’s own album The Winds of Change. UR students can attend for free, so register here for tickets to this concert on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Modlin Camp Concert Hall. 

Cooking Basics: Apps and Snacks with Dining Services

Check the UR Dining Services Demonstration Kitchen page to register for some free cooking classes and demonstrations. This Wednesday, they will be hosting a cooking class featuring appetizers and snacks before the Duquesne v. Richmond Men’s basketball game. You can sign up here

80s Tribute Band Concert The Legwarmers

If you’re craving live music and a show, you might want to check out The Legwarmers, an 80s tribute band. They will be performing at The National on Saturday, Feb. 8, and doors open at 7 p.m. Check it out here!

UR Club Hockey Games 

The UR Hockey Team will be hosting three home games at the Richmond Ice Zone on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 7-9. UR will be playing against Duke on Friday, Feb. 7, at 10:10 p.m. and East Carolina University on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8 and 9. To learn more and see game times, check out their website

SCEI Protest Poster Workshop 

SCEI and the Book Arts Studio will be hosting a Poster Printing workshop on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. This workshop will explore the role of art in historical moments of unrest and activism. You can learn more information and register for this event here
