UR’s Lambda Chi Alpha chapter is on temporary suspension

The University of Richmond’s Lambda Chi Alpha Alpha-Chi Zeta chapter has been temporarily suspended and is under investigation.

The chapter canceled all social events this weekend, according to a message sent in the fraternity’s GroupMe on Jan. 29. A screenshot of the message was later posted on Fizz, an anonymous social media app for UR students.

“We are confident this miscommunication will be resolved soon,” said the message sent by junior Michael Griffin, a member of the chapter.

Lambda Chi was last suspended in November 2022 for hosting an unregistered event with alcohol at the chapter’s lodge and serving alcohol to an underage student, according to the Registered Student Organization Conduct Report. The chapter was put on organizational probation through the 2023 spring semester.

The conduct report has not been updated since the investigation started.

The chapter will remain on temporary suspension until the investigation concludes, according to Director of Media and Public Relations Sunni Brown.

No further details are available at this time, Brown said.

Lambda Chi is unable to comment during this time as it is an ongoing investigation, said Junior Will Sauers, President of the Alpha-Chi Zeta chapter.

"We look forward to providing more upon its conclusion,” Sauers added.

This is a developing story.
