The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s annual light event has returned. Get in the Christmas spirit and spend some time outdoors looking at stunning light displays. This year’s theme is Homes & Habitats: A Celebration of Connection. Tickets range from $12 to $22 and must be bought in advance.
The House That Will Not Stand
Nov. 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 24 at 2 p.m.
Come to the Modlin Center for a riveting performance following the story of a widowed mother trying to carve a path for her daughters in New Orleans in the 1830s. According to the site, it depicts a view into “intersecting captivities of enslaved and free women of color” during the time. Get your tickets now.

Get ready for Thanksgiving with this delicious cooking class at Sur La Table. This event is reserved for UR alums. An expert chef will guide you through main courses, side dishes, and even desserts. The cost of the class is $75 and tickets can be purchased here.
Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival

This festival uses film as an avenue to bring awareness to the lives of Native Americans and their culture, languages, and societies. Virginia has a long, rich history of Native Americans and this festival is a great way to learn more. This event will be in several venues including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. Purchase tickets before the event sells out.
Global Sounds
Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dive into other cultures and enjoy a variety of musical performances at Camp Concert Hall this Sunday. Students as well as community members will be performing traditional Japanese, West African, Brazilian, and Indonesian music. This event is free, but requires tickets.
