Weekly Roundup | Week of Nov. 10

The highly anticipated spring registration period is finally over. Congratulations to those of you who got all of your classes. If you didn’t, no worries because there are various activities this week to distract you from your academic troubles. 

FIR Talk: Chill Out with Chick-fil-A

Monday 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Finals are sooner than you think, Spiders. Take the opportunity to chat with faculty-in-residence about their tips and tricks for finals season. You can register here

The Art of the Cocktail: Thanksgiving Cocktails

Tuesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

For those 21 or older, get ready for Thanksgiving and learn how to make several themed cocktails. Virago Spirits will teach you how to make drinks that will be sure to impress friends and family. The cost to attend is $35. Register here.  

Alumni Showcase with filmmaker Caroline Keene, ‘08

Thursday 7 p.m. 

Spend your Thursday evening in the Ukrop Auditorium watching “Merry Good Enough” directed by Caroline Keene, '08. The 2023 film follows the story of a chaotic family on Christmas Eve when the main character’s mother goes missing. 

Richmond Marathon

Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ready, set, go! The 47th annual Richmond marathon, half marathon, and 8k will be hosted downtown. Registration is still open, but prices will rise after Nov. 12. Don’t want to run? No problem. Food trucks, live music, party zones and more will be available along the racing site. 

Open Mic Night

Saturday 7:30 p.m.

Join MASA, CAPS, and SpiderBoard in The Current for a night of singing and food. You don’t have to be the next Taylor Swift to perform; everyone is welcome to participate. Even if you don’t want to take to the stage, come for the entertainment and snacks. 

Friendsgiving Celebration 

Sunday 2 p.m.

Take a study break, come by the Multicultural Space for an afternoon of comfort food, crafts and games. Get in the mood for Thanksgiving and take home a few freebies while you’re at it. Make sure to RSVP here
