Weekly Roundup | Thanksgiving Edition

Many students stay on campus during Thanksgiving break, but it can be hard to find dining options during the holiday, with the Heilman Dining Center closed the majority of the week.

HDC will be closed from Tuesday at 3:30 to Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Tyler’s will be open on Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and then will be closed until it resumes regular hours on the Monday after break.

There is a wide range of restaurants open on Thanksgiving. There is something for everyone.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar will be offering a three-course menu full of Thanksgiving classics. Guests can choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert starting at $62. Reservations are required. The restaurant, located just south of the James River, is a short eight-minute drive from campus.

The Tobacco Company will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will have a special menu featured for the holiday. This new American restaurant is perfect for a formal dining experience. The menu features many land and sea options ranging from $30 to $70. Located in downtown Richmond, it is a short six-minute walk from the Canal Walk. Reservations are required and are open for parties under eight people.

The Boathouse is perfect for seafood lovers. All four locations will offer a buffet with a $48 entry fee for adults. Traditional sides and turkey will be offered alongside shrimp, salmon, and other seafood.  Reservations are required and tables are extremely limited.

Soul Taco has two vibrantly colored locations offering a cheaper, more casual dining option for guests. Head over to Shockoe Slip for a non-traditional Thanksgiving experience.  This fusion restaurant combines Southern and Latin American cuisines resulting in a delicious taco.

Red Lobster will be open for dine-in and to-go at all locations. Enjoy biscuits and seafood at a reasonable price. Reservations are not required but are recommended. Parties under 6 can make a reservation online, but larger parties must call the restaurant location.

Cracker Barrel, Denny’s, and Golden Corral are offering to-go meals for families. All orders must be placed in advance. These meal packages are designed to feed multiple people and are not suitable for those looking to order alone.
