UR Weekly Roundup | Week of Dec. 4

We made it to the last week of class! If you need a break from reviewing for finals, here are a few events you would not want to miss.

Chamber Ensembles

Monday 7:30 p.m.

As part of the Department of Music Free Concert Series, the UR Chamber Ensembles will perform a selection of works by Brahms, Mozart, Schubert and others in Camp Concert Hall. The show will also feature the premiere of “Wulan Sabit (Crescent Moon),” a work by Peni Candra Rini, an Indonesian composer and a former visiting Fulbright Scholar at UR. Tickets are not required.

Holiday Dinner

Wednesday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Want a taste of the holiday spirit on campus? Come to the Heilman Dining Center for this special dinner; on the menu will be roasted herbed prime rib, deviled eggs and Yule log. 

Merry Market

Friday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Still need to do your holiday shopping? Come to Maymont for this 2-day artisan market, which will feature more than 40 local vendors, live music and delicious food. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.

The Nutcracker 

Friday 7 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

"The Nutcracker" is a beloved holiday classic that captivates audiences with its magical tale of Clara’s journey through a whimsical world of toy soldiers, sugar plum fairies and the iconic Nutcracker Prince. Set to Tchaikovsky's enchanting score and produced by the Richmond Ballet, this timeless ballet brings to life the wonder and joy of the holiday season. Catch this show at the Carpenter Theater, with tickets starting at $25.

Midnight Munchies

Sunday 10 p.m. - 11:55 p.m.

As a tradition to start off finals week, come to the Heilman Dining Center for a study break with comfort food and a live DJ. The menu will feature specialty ice cream, fruit trays and more.
