UR Weekly Roundup | Week of Sept. 11

According to the most recent weather forecast, we have seen the last of the 90-degree days for this year. If you are looking to make the most out of this summer-like weather, here are some events taking place this week.

Study Abroad Fair

Wednesday 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

To learn about the study abroad programs that the University of Richmond offers, come to the Alice Haynes Room in the Tyler Haynes Commons, where there will be over 40 information tables and representatives from 15 partner programs. You can also enter a raffle at the fair for a chance to win travel-themed prizes. 

Lunch and Learn

Thursday 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Come to the Demonstration Kitchen, where the campus dietitians will teach you how to make Sausage, Tomato and Zucchini Gnocchi using local produce. Registration is required for this class.

Job, Internship, & Graduate School Fair

Thursday 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

If you have been thinking about your career path post-college, this fair will provide an opportunity to connect with potential employers and explore graduate schools. There will be booths for the Big Four accounting firms, Teach for America, Duke University and more. The event will take place in the Queally Center and is open to students from all class years and majors. Business casual or business professional attire is recommended. Register for the fair here.

Recovery Ally Training

Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Hosted by Spiders Support Recovery, this program offers fundamental knowledge about treatment and tools to improve intervention skills and reduce stigma around substance abuse. The event will be hosted in the Carole Weinstein International Center Commons, and breakfast will be provided. You can register using this link.

Mt. Joy Live in Concert

Friday 7 p.m.

Mt. Joy is a Los Angeles-based indie rock band, which rose to fame with hits like “Silver Lining,” “Astrovanand “Strangers.” The band will play at Brown’s Island at 490 Tredegar St., with tickets starting at $44.50.
