From student theatre to ethics discussions, this week has a lot to check out. 

Internship and Job Search Workshop

Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Struggling with the internship application process, or don’t even know where to begin? The Office of Alumni and Career Services is hosting a foundational program workshop for students and alumni looking for assistance in finding an internship. Participants will learn how to source opportunities, work through the application process, strategize targeting and leave with an action plan. The workshop will be held in room 321 in Tyler Haynes Commons. Register here. 

Black History Month Kick-off Dinner 

Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

The Heilman Dining Center is hosting the annual Black History Month Kick-off Dinner on Tuesday. This year's theme is “Taste of the Caribbean.” The dinner menu will include a variety of options from jerk chicken and tofu to jicama and pineapple salad to coconut cake. Be sure to check it out. 

Ethics of Choice Conference 

Thursday through Saturday

As a part of a university-wide initiative, this three-day conference will highlight a large group of UR faculty and their multidisciplinary work. Participants on a local, national and international level will consider ethical choices, ethical decision-making and its consequences. Anti-Valentine’s Day Concert 

Saturday at 8 p.m. 

For those who are not looking forward to the day filled with cupid, chocolate and love, this one's for you. Off the Cuff, a co-ed acapella group, is hosting a concert Saturday evening in the Current. The concert will feature Choeur du Roi and Octaves, the oldest acapella group on campus. If you’re going to avoid Valentine's day anyway, you might as well have fun doing it.    

Safe Space RVA February Markets 

Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

A pop-up community event that supports local LGBTQ+ and BIPOC artists, small business owners and makers, is hosting two events this weekend. The Safe Space Market will put on two themed events this week: Year of Love Safe Space Anniversary Market will be held Saturday and the Black Love Day Market will be held on Sunday. Both will be held at Triple Crossing Beer - Fulton. The markets will have over 25 vendors and live music. The event is free and masks are required. Visit the website for more information.
