The SpiderBoard concert committee selected Waka Flocka Flame as the performer for this year's spring concert.

Rapper Waka Flocka Flame will perform at the spring concert hosted by SpiderBoard, members announced Wednesday night at the concert reveal.

The reveal took place in The Current, which was decorated with streamers and balloons and featured a wing bar, where SpiderBoard handed out branded cups and water bottles.

SpiderBoard members announced the artist by showing a video that featured students incorrectly guessing the performer’s identity until the countdown opened up to a montage of Waka Flocka Flame concerts set to his hit song “Hard in Da Paint.”

The concert opener will be a student DJ battle, and the participants have yet to be chosen.

“I didn’t think it would be Flocka, but I’m really excited,” sophomore Emily Kingston said.

First-year Jack Inzer echoed Kingston's enthusiasm.

“I’m stoked about this and it’s going to be a great time,” Inzer said. “I know about four of his songs, but I love all of them.”

The concert committee comprised SpiderBoard president Colin Sparkevicius and members Nicole Carola, Meredith Johnson, Ava Holle, Annie Wang, Aerin Kalmans and Bella Brown.

Brown described the process of selecting the famous rapper as this year's performer.

“We sent out a big survey and contacted a bunch of different groups and organizations ... to try to see who everyone wanted so it wasn't just for a certain demographic,” Brown said. “We got a ton of responses and then went to the top five and saw who was affordable and who we could actually look at getting, and it ended up being Flocka.”

Tickets are available now and will be sold at a discounted price until 8 a.m. tomorrow with the code “REVEAL.” The concert will take place on April 3 at 8 p.m.
