Provost Jacquelyn Fetrow will leave University of Richmond at the end of the school year to serve as president of Albright College, President Ronald Crutcher announced in an email Friday afternoon.

Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, is Fetrow's alma mater, and she has served on its board for several years.

"During her tenure with us, Dr. Fetrow has provided critical academic leadership," Crutcher wrote in the email to the university community. "I know she will be an outstanding leader for her alma mater."

Fetrow became Richmond's provost in 2014. In her time at the university she hired three deans and helped develop Crutcher's strategic plan. She also created the faculty senate, which comprises university faculty and convenes monthly to develop recommendations for the administration.

Before coming to Richmond, Fetrow worked at Wake Forest University as a dean and professor of computational biophysics. Fetrow's "warm professionalism and forthrightness" paired with her "enormous intelligence" were what landed her the provost position, Jan Hoffman French, chairwoman of the department of sociology and anthropology and leader of the search committee that found Fetrow, told The Collegian in 2014.

Fetrow will continue to shape Crutcher's strategic plan for the university as the co-chair of the sub-committee for academic excellence until May 31, her final day at Richmond. Crutcher will announce a search plan for Fetrow's replacement in the coming weeks, according to his email.
