Police Report: March 3 - March 14

Destruction of Property

A South Court dorm room was vandalized between March 5 and March 13. Beth Simonds, Assistant Chief of Police, said someone had entered the room through an unlocked door and had discharged a fire extinguisher. The investigation is still open and a timely warning email was sent to the university community on March 13.

A breaking and entering occurred at the Sigma Chi Fraternity lodge between March 1 and March 13. The lodge was forcibly entered through a rear window and vandalized with paint. The investigation is still open and the university police issued a timely warning email on March 13.

Theft

Clothing valued at $201 was stolen from the Weinstein Fitness Center at 11:15 p.m. on March 5. The alleged burglar was arrested and was not a member of the university community, Simonds said.

A wallet was stolen from the Wellness Center on March 11. A detective is still investigating the crime.

Two exit signs were stolen in male freshman dorms. On March 3, a sign was stolen in Dennis Hall and the investigation is still open. The other sign was stolen from Marsh Hall between March 7 and March 9 and the investigation is closed.

Not all police reports are published, and available information can be found at the police department’s police log. All information used in this report came from either the police log or direct contact with the university police.
