BREAKING NEWS: Officer and gunman are dead after a shooting at Richmond Greyhound bus station

Update 11:58 a.m.: The Virginia state trooper, now identified as Chad P. Dermyer, 37, who was shot at the Greyhound bus station yesterday, died at VCU Medical Center last night, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Officers who were at the station to engage in a training exercise, returned shots to the shooter, who later died at VCU Medical Center. The shooter has had prior criminal charges and his body has been taken to to the state medical examiner’s office, per the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The shooter's identity is known by officials, but information has not been made public yet.

Two women were among the others shot at the station and were also transported to VCU Medical Center, where they were reported as to having non-life threatening injuries. Dermyer, a former Marine Corps member, is survived by his wife and two children, per CNN. The investigation remains open and at this time there was no known motive for the shooting, according to CNN.

Update, 7:28 p.m.: Multiple news outlets, including CNN and USA Today, are reporting that only three people – one state trooper and two civilians – were injured in the shootings at the Richmond Greyhound bus station earlier today. Previous reports said six people had been injured.

Update, 7:01 p.m.: The state trooper who was originally reported dead is alive but sustained life-threatening injuries, Virginia State Police spokeswomen Corinne Geller told USA Today.

Update, 4:47 p.m.: One of the state troopers who was shot today at the Greyhound bus station in Richmond has died, along with the shooter, according to WTVR CBS 6 News. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has issued the following statement via Twitter regarding the shooting:

The victims were rushed to VCU Medical Center, according to Fox News.

Two Virginia state troopers were among six people shot at a Greyhound bus station in Richmond, Virginia, Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham told CBS 6. 

State police responded to the shooting at 2:45 p.m. with Richmond police SWAT also on the scene, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The station is currently closed and the shooter is in custody, per reports from CNN. Other news outlets, such as CBS 6, reported that the shooter may be dead. 

The bus station is located at 2910 N. Boulevard across from The Diamond, the Richmond Flying Squirrels' Stadium.
