University of Richmond Police Report: January 25 - February 3

Burglary/Breaking and Entering

An unidentified person entered a Westhampton College student’s room in Gray Court on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 7:15 p.m. The case is currently closed with no suspects.

Extortion

A Westhampton College student was the victim of extortion on Tuesday, Jan. 26. The student was encouraged to send explicit images to a person online, according to Assistant Chief of Police Beth Simmonds. After the student sent such images, the person threatened to forward them to the student's friends and family if she did not provide a specific amount of money. The crime was reported from Marsh Hall on 10:30 p.m. The perpetrator is believed to from outside the university and the case is open.

Larceny

A silver car cover was reported stolen from the 5500 Block of the Gateway Apartments on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 9 p.m. The item was stolen between 9 p.m. Jan. 20 or and 11:30 a.m Jan. 21. The victim is a Westhampton College student and there is no active investigation at this time.

Theft from Building

One exit sign was reported stolen from Marsh Hall on Monday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. The investigation is closed at this time and there are no leads.

A wallet, credit cars, and cash belonging to a Richmond College student were reported stolen from the Weinstein Wellness Center on Friday, Jan. 29 at 3:30 p.m. The items have not been recovered and there are no suspects.

A brown coat belonging to a Richmond College student was reported stolen between 12 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. The case is currently closed and there are no suspects.

A non-university person reported a stolen iPhone 6 at the Weinstein Wellness Center on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6:20 p.m. The phone was recovered and the case has been closed.

Simple Assault

Two Richmond College students participated in “mutual combat” on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 12:15 p.m, according to Simmonds. The incident occurred on New Fraternity Row and there were no injuries. Both students received conduct referrals.

Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property

Two water fountains in Gray Court were reported damaged on Sunday, Jan. 31. The first report came in at 2:50 a.m. and the second followed shortly after at 3:05 a.m. Both cases have been closed.

Hit and Run

The rear panel of a 2011 Toyota Rav-4 belonging to a Westhampton College student was reported damaged by an unknown vehicle on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 5:50 p.m. The incident occurred in R-Lot near the Robins School of Business. There are no leads at this time.

An unknown vehicle damaged a non-university person's 2008 Chrysler on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 11:20 p.m. The damage occurred on the vehicle’s left-side quarter panel and the investigation is open.
