Martin Luther King Day commemoration
Classes are cancelled on Monday, Jan. 18 in order to observe Martin Luther King Day. The Common Grounds invites students, faculty and staff to serve in the community, learn about civil rights in Richmond through partaking in RVA walking tours, and finally come together at the end of the day for the annual all-campus commemoration. The University will also host its an annual commemoration featuring student performances and a keynote speaker.

Vagina Monologues Auditions
Auditions will be held Jan. 13-17 at 7 p.m. in the The Tyler Haynes Commons room 346 for the annual production of The Vagina Monologues. No previous experience is necessary and it’s open to all undergraduate and graduate students. For more information email urtvmexec@gmail.com.
WinterFest
WinterFest is a student organization and community engagement fair that gives students the opportunity to get involved. The fair will be held Thursday, Jan. 21 from 4-6 p.m. in the Tyler Haynes Commons Pier and Alice Haynes Room. This event is sponsored by the Center for Student Involvement and the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement.
“The Mask You Live In” screening
Faculty, staff and students are invited to watch the documentary, “The Mask You Live In” on Friday, Jan. 15 and 1 p.m. in the International Center Commons. The documentary explores our culture’s definition of masculinity, how it harms boys, men and society, and what we can do about it according to imdb.com.
After the screening there will be a follow up discussion on its implications for our campus.
Richmond vs. VCU men's basketball game
The Spiders will host VCU Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. The Student Tailgate Tent will open at 12:45 p.m. with food and a live DJ. Students will also receive a “Silence of the Rams” t-shirt in the tent to show their Richmond pride during the game.
