On Nov. 2 campus police received information from a campus security authority that a student was sexually assaulted at an unknown time on Saturday, Oct. 31 on New Fraternity Row, according to a timely warning email sent to students on Monday.
This is the only available information at this time, according to the email.
This is the fourth sexual assault timely warning students have received this semester. The first came on the first day of class, Aug. 24, the second on Sept. 4 and the third on Sept. 23.
This report is the first to come in after the time referred to as the "Red Zone," a term describing the first few weeks of the academic year where first and second year students are most susceptible to sexual violence.
Richmond is one of over 100 schools facing federal investigation for a Title IX violation. During the spring 2015 semester, the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights came to campus to speak with students for the investigation.
The Collegian conducted a campus-wide sexual assault survey last spring, and received responses from more than 1,000 students. About 42 percent of undergraduate female students at Richmond responded to the survey, and more than half of respondents answered that they have experienced some sort of unwanted sexual behaviors while at Richmond.
According to the American Civil Liberties Union, about 95 percent of rapes on American college campuses go unreported.
