The Robins School of Business will sponsor the EFMD Global Undergraduate Conference Oct. 13-15, with the theme “Undergraduate Management Education: Preparing our Students for the Journey.”
This conference has only been hosted once before in the U.S. and will focus on undergraduate business students – or millennials in the 21st century and their place in the world. During these three days there will be discussions about internships, employers and their relationships with international undergraduate business students.
The European Foundation for Management Development is an international not-for-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium, that promotes management development networking. It exists in more than 80 countries and has more than 800 member organizations, including academia, business, public service and consultancy.
“We are honored to host the EFMD Undergraduate Conference,” said Nancy Bagranoff, dean of the business school. “Being a member of EFMD has provided important opportunities for international alliances, student exchanges and networking with leading business schools from around the world. We look forward to welcoming conference participants to the University of Richmond," Bagranoff said.
These participants will mainly consist of university faculty and business school administrators from around the world, as well as students who are interested in a future abroad.
“Scheduling the conference during the University of Richmond Fall Break not only fits well with the academic calendars of participants who will be coming from many different countries, but it also permits the use of classrooms and conference rooms,” said Thomas J. Cossé, associate dean for international programs.
Among the multiple panelists, there will be five business school graduates who will talk about their professional experience internationally. Two of them are non-U.S. citizens and a third has an internationally focused job. Their joint testimony will illustrate the many possibilities business school undergraduates can pursue around the world.
