The Black and Muslim Law Student Associations will co-host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9 at the T.C. Williams School of Law in remembrance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Virginia Blood Services will sponsor the event in order to help relieve summer blood supply shortages, said Kwadwo Yehoah-Kankam, president of the Black Law Student Association.
"As law students we want to find ways to engage with the community," said Marium Durrani, president of the Muslim Law Student Association. "Just thinking about people who loose their lives, it is a really good way to give back, and the blood is actually going to save a life."
Although participants can register at the event on Sunday, Yehoah-Kankam said they were encouraging blood donors to register in advance at the Virginia Blood Services website, www.vablood.org with the sponsor code "9/11."
