Spring Honors Convocation tomorrow; class times altered

Tuesday's class schedule will be altered for University of Richmond students because of the university's spring Honors Convocation. Class times have been altered to allow for the campus community to attend the convocation, according to a memo sent by deans Landphair, Skerrett and Boehman.

Classes that begin at 9 a.m. will run from 9-9:40 a.m., 10:30 a.m. classes will run from 9:50-10:30 a.m. and noon classes will be delayed until 12:40 p.m.-1:20 p.m. All other class times will remain the same.

The School of Arts & Sciences Honors Convocation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon in the Cannon Memorial Chapel. Jennifer Erkulwater, associate professor of political science, and Cheleah Jackson, a senior interdisciplinary studies major, will speak at the convocation.

The Beta Gamma Sigma Induction Ceremony and Honors Convocation hosted by Dean Nancy Bagranoff and the Robins School of Business will also be held in the Modlin Center for the Arts.

Inductees to Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society, will be recognized, as well as recipients of the 2011 Merit Scholarships and the 2012 Awards for students, faculty and staff of the Robins School of Business, according to the Richmond website.

The convocation will also honor Shawn Boyer, the founder and CEO of Snagajob, based in Richmond, as Executive of the Year. He was named the 2008 U.S. Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration and will speak about "Leading a Purposeful Life," according to a university press release.

Attendance is mandatory for Robins School of Business students, and their convocation is scheduled to run from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., according to the Richmond website.
