Letter to the Editor: In defense of Islam

Dear Editor,

Ms. Kuta complains that "Allah says the goal of Islam is to take over the world." (Sura 8:39) If Allah says that His goal is to make the world Muslim, it is His goal. He is God. That is His prerogative. If she does not like it, she cannot blame the Muslims for that.

Ms. Kuta protests "the teachings of Shariah are disturbing." Shariah is not "teachings," but the law which resulted from Islam.

If she thinks women are denigrated by Islam, she should be made aware that Hazrat Ayesha (May God be pleased with her), due to her knowledge of Islam, is the source of half of Islamic jurisprudence.

Ms. Kuta found verses, but she left out the whys and wherefores. If we did this to Judaism, it would appear barbaric too. Punishments are deterrents. If the police only charged five dollars for speeding, everyone would speed.

Regarding the abrogation of verses, Ms. Kuta fails to understand that there are over 70 sects in Islam and Qasim Rashid is not obligated to believe in Ismail ibn Kathir. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, revealed that there are no abrogated verses. Indeed, abrogation suggests that the Quran is flawed, which it is not. It is as faultless as our Creator.

Talmudic law is used in 25 states. Who will use Shariah? Catholics don't use Talmudic law... So why the big protest? If America is free, why can't Muslims use Shariah if they so choose?
