What to do to prepare for presidential speech

Here are a few things students should know about the President's visit and how they should prepare.

1.Tickets will be available for Richmond students, faculty, and staff at the Events-Conferences Office in the Physical Plant building on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

2.There will be plenty of tickets for the University of Richmond community to attend. Students will be allowed to pick up two tickets for themselves and a friend on campus, said Brian Eckert, the University of Richmond's director of media and communications.

3.Parking for off-campus visitors Friday will be at City Stadium with free continuous shuttles running back-and-forth from the university beginning at 6:30 a.m.

4.Items that will not be allowed to be brought in to the Robins Center for the President's speech include umbrellas and backpacks.

5.Any electronics will need to be shown to security and proven that they work before entering. Any electronics that do not work will be confiscated, or the owner will have to leave with said item. This includes cell phones with dead batteries.

The President's speech is scheduled for 11:35 a.m. Friday. The direction of the speech is expected to be to the general American audience rather than students, Eckert said. Staff involved with the President's visit will be on campus starting at 4 a.m. Friday to prepare for the day's activity.
