Letter: Dean responds to "New business program for men..."

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to today's feature article entitled, "New Business Program for Men Upsets Some Women."

There is a new first-year Living and Learning community designed for males only, with an interest in business. These communities designed for first-year students are traditionally separated by gender and area of interest at the University of Richmond. No co-ed, first-year Living and Learning communities exist currently at the university.

Westhampton College is considering offering a similar Living and Learning community for first-year women interested in business and I support their effort to do so.

Forty-one percent of our Robins School of Business students are female. If we have both Living and Learning communities, then I suggest that they work together. After all, we learn most in diverse groups where there are a variety of perspectives represented.

Business is for everyone; business teams are diverse, and business is global!

Sincerely,

Dean Nancy Bagranoff
