"To tell you the truth, I didn't pay much attention to the e-mail when I received it. It seemed more like an afterthought. I just moved on to the next e-mail on my list."

"It probably wasn't appropriate given the fact that it could exert influence over students and also the fact that if one employee of the university can send an e-mail like this, then all faculty and staff could begin to do the same. I also think, however, that you can't stop people from talking. A conference or debate on the issue may have been more appropriate. It is important to defend the right to speech."

"I definitely think she shouldn't have sent that e-mail. Her job isn't to sit there and promote one side or the other of any issue. The purpose of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to promote diversity; not just in skin color, but in diversity of opinion."

"I don't think she was in the wrong. I think it was a little inappropriate. I don't think she would have swayed anyone because of one e-mail. She should get a slap on the wrist, but firing her is a little extreme.
