The University of Richmond football team's 2010 schedule is now available, and includes a three-game home stand to open the E. Claiborne Robins Stadium.
The Spiders will face eight Colonial Athletic Association opponents during the 2010 season, including road trips to the defending CAA North champion, the University of New Hampshire, and the Football Championship Subdivision defending champion, Villanova University.
Richmond will take the field at the new, on-campus Robins Stadium for the first time on Sept. 18 against Elon University. The Spiders will then face the University of Delaware and Coastal Carolina University during the following two weeks. Towson University will come to Robins Stadium for Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 23, and James Madison University and the University of Rhode Island round out the six-game home schedule.
First up for the Spiders during 2010 will be a game against the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., on Sept. 4. Former Richmond head coach Mike London will lead his new Virginia team during the game.
Because Northeastern University and Hofstra University eliminated their football programs after last season, the CAA has dissolved the former North and South divisions and instead the teams will play nearly all of the other CAA teams. Richmond will play every CAA team except for the University of Maine next season.
