UR Police Department hosts carnival to benefit Va. Special Olympics
The University of Richmond Police Department is hosting a carnival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11 on the Westhampton Green to benefit Virginia Special Olympics.
The event, which is being co-sponsored by Student Activities, will offer several activities including a football and basketball toss with Richmond Spider athletes, a rock climbing wall sponsored by the U.S. Army and a dunk tank where students can pay to dunk police officers. There will also be two bands and carnival food such as snow cones and cotton candy.
Entrance is free and open to the public but students will have to pay per food item or game.
Lieutenant Adrienne Murray of the University of Richmond Police Department said that it would be a great way for students to get to know the police and that it is also important because the Special Olympics was a worthy cause.
