Add substance to your articles, Ms. Compton

Throughout my four years here at UR, I have felt strongly about many articles published by The Collegian, but have never felt so compelled to respond to anything until now -- yes, I am talking about Straight out of Compton (Vol. Too Many).

Rather than biting the by-now-digested "povo" bait, I take issue with the underlying problem with Ms. Compton's articles -- complete and utter lack of substance.

Although your articles about Red Bull-fueled nights at the lodges, self-pampering sessions and the junior class taking your seat at D-Hall do fill space on a page, I find it hard to believe that The Collegian has deemed printing them an appropriate use of University of Richmond ink.

It is a shame that someone who seems to be very passionate about vocalizing her opinion repeatedly writes articles devoid of abstract reasoning.

Yes, you do have the right to free speech. No, that does not always mean that it is best to exercise that right.

I recommend that you heed the advice of us naysayers and change your style. Take a week off and polish a more productive article about racial issues, sexuality, politics or even the tragic fate of Triceragoose.
