Richard L. Morrill, chancellor and former president of the University of Richmond, was elected chairman of the board of directors of The Teagle Foundation, according to a press release on Friday.
The Teagle Foundation "is dedicated to providing intellectual leadership and financial support to strengthen educational opportunity and undergraduate learning in the liberal arts and sciences," according to the press release. Morrill has served on the board since 1989. He was president of Salem College in North Carolina and then president of Richmond from 1988 to 1998.
Teagle Foundation President W. Robert Connor said the foundation uses its resources on universities that are willing to question whether their students are learning at the highest standards. The foundation then looks at the data the universities gather and works with them to improve the quality of students' education. Connor said the foundation is reaching toward it's goals and the programs "are starting to yield encouraging results"
