Guest Columnist David Bunke asks the University of Richmond community to be nice to the campus bikes, because they’re useful!
The police have collected 18 bicycles and are searching for their owners. If the bikes remain unclaimed, Green UR will include them in a community sale.
Say it’s a sunny Friday afternoon, you just finished classes and you’re free for the weekend. Say you and your friends decide to go to Short Pump to do some shopping and grab dinner before you go out.
Nearly an hour after GreenUR’s bike sale began, all 13 bikes were sold. According to the club president, Jerry Giordano, the intent of the sale was “to bring affordable bikes to campus.”
The Green Bikes have survived their first semester, but not without repairs that have caused sponsors to question whether the program will be continued in the future.
