Dan served as the online editor of The Collegian during the 2008-09 academic year, pioneering the newspaper's Web site redesign the summer before his senior year. The final product won best overall college newspaper Web site from the Student Society for News Design in the spring of 2009. Previously, he was The Collegian news editor, from 2007-08. He blogged for The New York Times during the 2008 presidential and vice presidential debates and has also interned as a staff writer for The Associated Press in Richmond, The Pennington (N.J.) Post weekly newspaper, and Stateline.org, a daily news Web site dedicated to tracking, analyzing and explaining trends in state government and politics. He is a multimedia and online intern for the summer of 2009 with The Denver Post through a program with the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. While at Richmond, he ran varsity cross country and track and field and played in the university's wind ensemble. He majored in biology and journalism and earned a minor in French.
