The city of Richmond hosted a pep rally for the University of Richmond Spiders and Virginia Commonwealth University Rams men’s basketball teams, which have both qualified for the “Sweet 16″ round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. UR president Edward Ayers, VCU president Michael Rao and Mayor Dwight Jones each spoke at the ceremony, which took place in the Turning Basin downtown.
