McDonnell trounces Deeds for Virginia governor, signaling shift in state politics
Republican candidate Robert F. McDonnell convincingly won Virginia’s governor race Tuesday night, defeating Democrat R. Creigh Deeds and ending years of control by Democrats in the state.

O’Bannon retains seat in House of Delegates, defeats Shields
University of Richmond alumnus John O’Bannon III, R-Henrico, retained his seat as delegate of the 73rd House district, which includes parts of Henrico County and Richmond City.
