The Westhampton College Government Association met Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the North Court Reception Room. First, Jaila Ingram-Johnson, who represented West Indian Lynk, asked for $535 in funding for the organization’s West Indian Pageant. The pageant will take place Saturday at 9 p.m. in the Pier. The total cost would include prizes for the seven women participating, pizza provided for guests, décor and publicity. The senate amended the cost to $300 and voted unanimously to pass the proposal.
Class of 2011 President Ali Amaral reminded attendees about Homecoming events such as the ice cream social Thursday between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Alice Haynes Room.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12 WCGA will hold a joint meeting with RCSGA at 6 p.m. in the Alice Haynes Room to review the Strategic Plan.
Next week, WC mugs will be distributed to Westhampton College women who had a 4.0 GPA during the 2007-2008 school year.
Dean Juliette Landphair reminded the senators about the cornerstone laying for the Westhampton Center. This will take place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Deanery.
Abby Rodriguez represented the Health Center, reminding the Senate that the Flu Shot Clinic will take place next week, Oct. 28 through 30 in the Commons. There is also a Women’s Health and Safety Fair on Oct. 31.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m., when many of the senators quickly departed for the Buffalo Wild Wing’s Wing Night in order to support the football team.
